Metallurgy

In the ferrous metallurgy the quartzite has proven itself to be the perfect raw material used for the production of ferrosilicon and as a flux agent. In the non ferrous metallurgy it finds its application as a flux agent for extracting the iron from the copper ore. We have successfully worked with the copper smelting plant in Pirdop owned by Aurubis AG and developed a special tightly controlled quartzite crushed product to be added in the converters instead of ordinary silica sand. This leads to:

• smoother and better controlled production process
• lower maintenance costs
• lower production costs
